• Job Title:  Climate Action Project Coordinator
• Place of Performance: Crookston, MN 56716 (with potential for some remote work)
• Work Authorization: US Citizen
• Duration of the Contract: July 2025 through May 2026

• Experience drafting large plans or reports, such as climate action plans, environmental stewardship plans, comprehensive plans, or similar.
• Experience in community engagement, event planning, or outreach in diverse settings.
• Familiarity with greenhouse gas emissions reporting, the Green Step Cities program, or community-based social marketing.
• Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
• Proficiency with basic data tracking tools (e.g., spreadsheets), social media platforms, and public engagement tools (like community apps or surveys)

• Research and draft a CAP framework using emissions data, local vulnerability assessments, and GreenStep Cities guidance.
• Plan and host a kickoff event and public workshop to introduce the CAP.
• Collaborate with staff, Empower Crookston partners, and community members to identify goals and priority implementation actions.
• Draft the full CAP document and assist in presenting it for inclusion in the City’s revised comprehensive plan.

• Organize inclusive community events (e.g., barbecues, pop-ups, door-to-door outreach).
• Develop and distribute flyers, handouts, social media posts, and ROI-focused communication materials.
• Coordinate bi-annual community surveys to track public understanding and interest in climate strategies.
• Use the Community Voice app to promote events, updates, and feedback opportunities.

• Collaborate with utility companies and residents to establish baseline greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage data.
• Develop systems for ongoing tracking and reporting.
• Assist community members in navigating available incentives and rebates for weatherization and electrification.

• Help form and support a City Green Team by facilitating inter-departmental collaboration.
• Track and report on GreenStep Cities’ progress to move Crookston toward Step 3 and beyond.
• Work with interns or other staff as applicable to support this effort.

• Assist with community projects and energy-efficiency implementation activities.
• Work toward sustainable structures that extend beyond the end of the grant period.

• Must be available to attend occasional evening or weekend community events.
• Ability to conduct door-to-door outreach in various weather conditions.
• Some local travel may be required.
• Work schedule is flexible within project needs and may be adapted to accommodate other employment or commitments.
