Impact of the Role

The estimator and project coordinator works with sales team members on estimates, quotes, and blueprints, while assisting with engaging subcontractors, organizing job documents, and working with site employees. This role informs management of job site activities. This role travels to job sites, ensuring  quality and customer satisfaction. All work is performed efficiently, safely, and according to specifications, regulations, and guidelines. This exempt role is very hands-on.

 

What the Role Does

  1. Estimate bills of material and labor related to jobs.
  2. Develop the scope of work for crews and installers.
  3. Communicate with superintendents and supervisors about job progress.
  4. Develop construction documents for subcontractors.
  5. Perform site visits as needed.
  6. Manage multiple projects, regularly update the schedule, and perform continual job forecasts.


What You Bring

Knowledge, Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in management (project, business, or construction), engineering, or a related field
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
  • Knowledge of installations and related practices
  • OSHA-10 or higher safety certification

 

Experience

  • Three years of refractory or related industry experience including estimating or project management
  • Combined experience and education will be considered

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Project, email, and internet navigation
  • Preferred: AutoCAD experience including reading and understanding drawings

 

Physical

  • Strength and stamina, including regularly using hands to handle, touch, and feel; regularly walk, move, stand, sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must have close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must lift up to 25 lbs. at times, e.g., to move parts to/from storage and work areas


Work Environment/Schedule

  • My travel to job sites and work extra hours as required
  • Will use/wear all required safety equipment
  • Occasionally exposed to weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
  • Most work is performed in an office environment with office equipment; noise level is usually low
