Job Description

The Paper Operations Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing operational and improvement projects across Paper Machines and Coaters. This role supports both short- and long-term operational goals, ensuring seamless project delivery, improved efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The coordinator will act as a liaison between operations, maintenance, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and support production excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate operational improvement and capital projects specific to paper machines and coaters.
  • Coordinate paper machine and coater roll program, supporting operations in this function.
  • Support daily operations by tracking project milestones, resource allocation, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering to ensure alignment on project timelines and outcomes.
  • Monitor machine performance data and identify opportunities for optimization in runnability, efficiency, and quality.
  • Prepare project documentation including scopes, timelines, budgets, and status reports.
  • Ensure all projects comply with safety, environmental, and company standards.
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational issues and contribute to root cause analysis efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including upper management, to provide updates and seek approvals.
  • Facilitate meetings, including daily operation huddles and project reviews.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities of projects impacting paper machines and coaters.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field โ€“ or equivalent work experience in a paper mill environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in paper manufacturing or industrial project coordination.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across multiple departments.
  • Strong safety orientation and commitment to mill standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • PMP or similar project management certification.
  • Strong understanding of paper machine operations and process flow.

Additional Information

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be split between office and production floor environments.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature extremes typical of a paper mill setting.
  • Must be available to support occasional off-shift and weekend activities during critical projects.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs/ladders in a mill environment.
  • Capable of wearing all required PPE and adhering to safety protocols.
